Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (85/15 or 90/10)
- 2 large yellow onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions
- In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 20–25 minutes until deeply caramelized.
- Push onions to the side and add the ground beef. Break it apart and cook until browned and no longer pink.
- Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir to coat the beef and onions evenly.
- Pour in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well and let the mixture simmer for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
- Lay provolone slices on top. Cover the skillet and let cheese melt for 2–3 minutes. Stir gently if desired.
