Description

A delicious and moist date pudding served with a rich toffee sauce.


Ingredients

  • 200 g dates (chopped)
  • 250 ml boiling water
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 85 g butter
  • 170 g brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 170 g all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 100 g butter
  • 150 g brown sugar
  • 200 ml heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and grease your baking dish.
  2. Chop dates and soak them in hot water with baking soda.
  3. Cream butter and brown sugar until light.
  4. Add eggs gradually, mixing well.
  5. Fold in flour and softened dates.
  6. Pour batter into baking dish.
  7. Bake until the sponge is set and springy.
  8. Prepare the toffee sauce in a saucepan.
  9. Pour warm sauce over the pudding.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Ensure the dates are chopped finely for better texture.
  • You can adjust the sweetness by using more or less sugar in the toffee sauce.
