- 250 ml boiling water
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 85 g butter
- 170 g brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 170 g all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 100 g butter
- 150 g brown sugar
- 200 ml heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat the oven and grease your baking dish.
- Chop dates and soak them in hot water with baking soda.
- Cream butter and brown sugar until light.
- Add eggs gradually, mixing well.
- Fold in flour and softened dates.
- Pour batter into baking dish.
- Bake until the sponge is set and springy.
- Prepare the toffee sauce in a saucepan.
- Pour warm sauce over the pudding.
- Serve immediately.

- Ensure the dates are chopped finely for better texture.
- You can adjust the sweetness by using more or less sugar in the toffee sauce.
