Description

This creamy cavatappi and beef pasta is a comforting dish that’s quick to prepare and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, (minced)
  • ¼ cup (60 g) tomato paste
  • 2 cups (16 ounces / 480 g) chicken broth
  • 1 cup (238 g) heavy whipping cream
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes, (or more or less to taste)
  • 8 ounces cavatappi pasta, (uncooked)
  • Fresh parsley, (for garnish)
  • Parmesan cheese, (finely grated, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. To a large, heavy-bottomed pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, or until fully browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks. If needed, drain excess grease.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute.
  3. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the tomato paste, chicken broth, heavy cream, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and fully combined.
  4. Stir in the uncooked cavatappi pasta, making sure it’s fully submerged in the liquid. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to medium-low. Cover the pot with a lid and simmer for 14 to 17 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
  5. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and parmesan. Serve hot.
